Brenda Dean Patton

Brenda Dean Patton, age 73, of Bentonville, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on February 8, 2026, surrounded by love. She was born on February 9, 1952, and lived a life marked by faith, service, and deep devotion to her family and community.
Brenda grew up in the Bentonville area and graduated from Bentonville High School in 1970. She went on to further her education at the University of Arkansas, where she earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary and secondary education and later a master’s degree in administration. Her love for learning and leadership shaped a remarkable career in education.
On August 23, 1970, Brenda married her elementary school sweetheart, James Patton. The two met in third grade and shared a beautiful life together for 55 years. Their marriage was blessed with four children, eight grandchildren, and ten great-grandchildren, with hopes for more generations to come. Brenda took immense pride in her family and found her greatest joy in loving and supporting them.
Brenda dedicated 25 years to teaching in the Bentonville and Rogers School Districts, where she left a lasting impact on countless students. She was instrumental in directing the Miss BHS and Miss RHS pageants and was deeply involved with Model United Nations and Mock Trial teams at Rogers High School, traveling with students to competitions across the United States. Her leadership in extracurricular activities and clubs at Bentonville High School contributed to numerous awards and lasting traditions.
A woman of strong faith, Brenda was a devoted member of New Hope Assembly of God Church in Rogers, Arkansas. She loved the Lord wholeheartedly and lived her faith daily, setting a powerful example for others. She joyfully led the church’s food ministry team and was always ready to serve wherever she was needed.
Brenda’s community involvement extended beyond the classroom and church. She was a past leader of the Centerton 4-H Club, served as chair of the women’s committee for the Benton County Farm Bureau, and took great pride in having helped plant the redbud trees along Central Avenue in Bentonville—a lasting symbol of beauty and growth.
In her quieter moments, Brenda loved reading, especially the Bible, listening to music, watching old movies, playing the piano, and relaxing while listening to the waves at the beach.
Brenda is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, James Patton; her parents, Arnold Layne and Erma Dean Layne; her brother, Eddy Layne and his wife Ellen; her children: Jared Patton and wife Amanda, Jibbi Grigg and husband Scott, Toby Wildeman and husband Jason, and Rafe Patton; along with eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, all of whom were the light of her life.
Brenda Dean Patton will be remembered for her unwavering faith, generous spirit, dedication to education, and the love she poured into her family and community. Her legacy lives on in the many lives she touched.
Visitation for Brenda will be held Thursday, February 12 from 5pm until 7pm at New Hope Assembly of God in Rogers.
Funeral service will begin at 10am on Friday, February 13 at New Hope Assembly of God with Pastor James Longmate officiating.
