Karla Sue Blevins
January 26, 1951 until May 9, 2026

“Her children stand and bless her. Her husband praises her; there are many virtuous and capable women in the world, but you surpass them all!” Proverbs 31:28-29.
Karla Sue Blevins was born January 26, 1951, in McCook Nebraska to Paul and Geraldine (Perkins) Christensen. She lived with her family in Beaver City, Nebraska until they moved to Holdrege when she was five years old. She attended school in Holdrege from Kindergarten through her senior year, graduating in 1969. She was active in marching band, pep club, and church youth activities.
Karla met Mark Blevins her freshman year at Central Bible College in Springfield, Missouri. They soon knew they would spend their lives together. She transferred to Evangel College, also in Springfield, majoring in Elementary Education. Mark and Karla were married in Holdrege on June 3, 1972. They started married life in Springfield while completing their senior year. After graduation from Evangel, Mark and Karla made their home in Holdrege. Karla taught first and second grade in the R-7 school district for three years and then took leave to begin raising a family. Mark and Karla had three beautiful daughters - Cheri, Candace, and Corinne. Karla loved her girls fiercely and supported them in every way possible.
Karla was a friend maker. She continued friendships from high school, college, the workplace, and teaching through the years. She loved keeping up with close family members as well as extended family. Karla cherished these relationships throughout her life.
Karla was a creative genius. She started her business, Karla’s Kreations, in the basement of her home. She loved to sew and create, even as a little girl making doll clothes. She had a God-given gift. Her business outgrew her basement and became a storefront in downtown Holdrege, selling handmade gifts and beautiful items to a customer base and contractors throughout the United States. Karla’s Kreations employed over 30 women in the Holdrege community.
In 1999 Mark and Karla made the decision to move to Omaha. Never backing away from a challenge, Karla renewed her teaching certificate and taught grades three and four. She soon earned her master’s degree in gifted education and taught until her retirement from Omaha Public Schools in 2017.
Mark and Karla moved to Rogers, Arkansas, in the summer of 2025, and quilting again became central to Karla’s life. A master quilter, she made quilts for her children and grandchildren, and she continued quilting until her very final days. She was determined to create wedding quilts for every grandchild and baby quilts for great-grandchildren still to come. After her cancer diagnosis in November 2025, she completed 10 quilts and many smaller gifts for family and friends. Karla was welcomed into heaven on May 9, 2026. She even had quilts with her at the hospital that day. We trust the Lord has prepared a beautiful place for her to keep creating and adding to heaven’s beauty.
Karla was preceded in death by her parents, Paul (1998) and Geraldine (2008) Christensen, her sister Rogene Christensen Argue (1992), brother-in-law Dave Argue (2019) and her brother Jerry Christensen (2022).
She is survived by her husband Mark of Rogers Arkansas, daughters Cheri Blevins of Rogers Arkansas, Candace and Jay Newland of Pittsburgh Pennsylvania, and Corinne and Paul Fulmer of Holdrege Nebraska. Brother Brent and Connie Christensen of Holdrege Nebraska, sister-in-law Roberta Christensen of Lincoln Nebraska, and brother-in-law Reggie and Lynn Blevins of Everton, Arkansas. Grandchildren Bryant and Kylee Fulmer, Jackson Newland, Kenna Fulmer, Haven Newland, Alexa Fulmer, her nieces, nephews, and a multitude of extended family and friends. Our loss is heaven’s gain.
