Phyllis June Goss
May 3, 1942 until June 20, 2026

Phyllis June Goss, age 84, of Bella Vista, AR went to be with her Savior on Saturday, June 20th surrounded by the love of her family.
Born on May 3, 1942, in Nashville, Kansas, Phyllis spent the first 40 years of her life in Kansas before making Arkansas her home for the last 44 years. Both places held a special place in her heart and were the backdrop to a life filled with faith, family, hard work, and adventure.
Phyllis married the love of her life and high school sweetheart, Merle Goss, in 1960. Together they shared a 66 year marriage built on partnership and countless memories. Left to carry on her legacy of love is her husband, Merle Goss and her three children: Troy Goss of Pineville, Missouri, Terri Lade (husband Arvid) of Tulsa, Oklahoma, and Valerie Hall (husband Brad) of Bentonville, Arkansas.
She was a proud grandmother to Joshua Lade, Caleb Lade, Hannah Justin, and Elias Justin. Her legacy continues through her five great-grandchildren: Roman Lade, Avery Lade, Beau Lade, Griffin Lade, and Cal Lade.
Alongside Merle, Phyllis was a successful hotel owner. She was an exceptional businesswoman whose fearless spirit, determination, and tireless work ethic earned the respect of all who knew her. She approached every challenge with strength, helping build businesses while creating a loving home for her family.
Phyllis had many passions throughout her life. She loved sewing and lovingly created special outfits and costumes for her children and grandchildren. Her faith in Jesus Christ was the foundation of her life, and she delighted in teaching her children about God’s Word, often creating fun activities to help them memorize Bible verses. She treasured time spent in the Colorado mountains, enjoyed traveling with Merle in their RV, and found joy in music. Whether singing along to a favorite song or dancing with those she loved, her vibrant spirit was always evident.
More than anything, Phyllis will be remembered for her unwavering faith, her deep love for her family, her strength of character, and her generous heart. She leaves behind a legacy of hard work, devotion, and faith that will continue to inspire future generations.
Her family finds comfort in knowing that she is now in the presence of her Savior, whom she faithfully loved and served throughout her life.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, Alfred and Edna Opitz and her two sisters, Carol Malcolm and Glenda Austin.
The family encourages friends and loved ones to share memories and celebrate Phyllis’s life in the days ahead; honoring the remarkable woman whose love and influence will never be forgotten.
“For we know that if the earthly tent we live in is destroyed, we have a building from God, an eternal house in heaven, not by human hands.” - 2 Corinthians 5:1
Visitation for Phyllis will be at 1:00pm on Wednesday, July 1st at Epting Funeral Home of Bentonville with graveside service to follow at Bella Vista Memorial Gardens.
