Agnes LouRue Crawford

In humble submission to the will of our Almighty Creator, we announce the peaceful passing of Agnes LouRue Crawford (Wilson), who was called to her eternal rest on April 10, 2024, at the venerable age of 83, in Rogers, Arkansas. Born into this temporal world on July 25, 1940, in Lawton, Oklahoma, LouRue walked a path of grace, guided by an unwavering faith and a heart full of Christ’s love.

LouRue grew up on the family Dairy farm until she left for college. She named every cow and sang to them daily. She went to a one room school until High School where she loved to play baseball with the boys. She was the only one that would play catcher.

She graduated from Lawton High, class of 1957 at the age of 16. At 17 and her first time away from home she attended and graduated from Oklahoma College for Women at 19 years old with a BS in Home Economics. Her first job was for Oklahoma Extension Service out of Oklahoma State University from 1960-1962 in Fredrick, OK as the girls 4H leader.

While in Fredrick, OK she met the love of her life and on February 3, 1962 she married Sergeant Jack Crawford. He was a recruiter for the US Army in Fredrick. After the birth of their daughter Sarita she quit her job and became a homemaker.

They moved multiple places and in 1965 they welcomed their first son Calvin in Fort Rally, KS.

In 1966 they moved to Germany for 3 years and returned to Lawton in 1969 when Jack got orders for Vietnam.

She was a parent volunteer at the elementary school. In 1971 Jack returned and retired from the Army and they welcomed their second son Douglas in 1972.

In 1980 Jack died suddenly and she was left to raise the 3 kids on her own and it was a challenge, but she never backed down from a challenge. She returned to college to earn a second degree and graduated from Camron University with a BS in Science and qualified to teach 10 subjects from elementary to high school.

For several years she taught at the hospital and local detention center before teaching full time at Thomlison Junior High as a science teacher.

In 1999 she had to retire for medical reasons and worked part time at H&R Block.

In 2000 she and Calvin opened Crawford’s Tax Service until Calvin passed away in 2007.

In 2008 she and Sarita moved to Centerton, AR to be close to Douglas and her 3 grand kids.

She loved her grand kids as they spent most summers with her.

In 2023 she got to meet her first great-granddaughter Eliza. She could not have been prouder.

Her and Dakota had a special bond that will forever be cherished by both.

Through deaths and illness, she never wavered in her love for God though she may ask why she always said God has a plan and it’s His will. She spent many years teaching Sunday school, VBS and whatever she was asked to help with. She attended Sullivan Village Church of Christ in Lawton, Bella Vista Church of Christ in Bella Vista, AR and Cave Springs Church of Christ in Cave Springs, AR until she could no longer attend regular service. But make no mistake every Sunday she watched church services from multiple churches and continued to write faith-based articles and post on Facebook.

LouRue is survived in life by her son Douglas and wife Juanita Crawford, grandson Dakota Crawford, granddaughter Olivia Crawford all of Gravette, AR. Granddaughter Hannah Cousins and husband Andrew, great granddaughter Eliza all of Charleston, AR. Many nieces and nephews and special friends.

LouRue is preceded in death by her husband Jack Crawford, father and mother Clarence and Renee Wilson, brother Eldon Wilson, sister Zelma, son Calvin, daughter Sarita, and niece Sara Vaughan.
