Barbara Linn Smith

Smith, Barbara L. (Morgan), Age 76, passed away peacefully June 9, 2023. She is preceded in death by parents, Ken & Bonnie Morgan. Survived by children, Morgan (Jessie) Smith & Erin Smith; grandchildren, Corbin & Miles; sister, Sandy (Rick) Carter; brother, Steve Morgan; nephews, Todd (Kari Ann), Eric & Blayne (Sarah); as well as many loving cousins, other relatives, sisters & brothers in Christ, and many, many friends.

Barbara was born in Oakland, CA, the only survivor of triplets and was raised in the Church of Christ in Klamath Falls, OR. She loved crafting, scrapbooking, digging for treasures at flea markets, time with her grandkids, and, most of all, coffee. Barbara was a dedicated special education teacher for 36 years retiring in 2008 from Fayetteville Public Schools. Forever a teacher, Barbara worked part-time preparing adults for standardized tests at NWACC after retirement and taught Thursday Bible School at Farmington Church of Christ. An avid seamstress who didn’t like to follow patterns, she could make a dress on Sunday morning in enough time to wear it to church and she also created many Halloween costumes for her kids and grandkids. Later in life she joined the Arts Center of the Ozarks working on costumes for Big River, The Sound of Music, and other musicals in which she also had small chorus roles, combining her sewing talents with her love of singing. Barbara was commissioned to make wedding dresses throughout the years as well as wedding cakes and floral arrangements; she had an eye for all things beautiful. Most of all, she spread joy. Whether that was a homemade card, digital card, a message, or just her daily positive Facebook posts. Barbara cherished her close and lasting friendships and will truly be missed by all.

Memorial Service will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, July 15, 2023 at the Farmington Church of Christ, 41 W. Main St, Farmington, AR. Private family interment will be at Pettit Cemetery, Park Hill, OK, next to her parents.
