Charles Stephen "Steve" Gunter

Charles Stephen “Steve” Gunter, 75, of Bentonville, Arkansas, passed away February 5, 2026.

Steve was born November 28, 1950, to Charles and Emily Gunter. He graduated from Southern Arkansas University and later earned his master’s degree from the University of Arkansas. Steve spent many years teaching history at Bentonville High School and was passionate about education and helping his students grow and succeed. He enjoyed reading, exploring new ideas, music, and art, and loved playing the guitar.

Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Linda Gunter of Bentonville; his daughter son in law, Nancee and Paul Sproles; his grandson Carter Helms of Bentonville; and his brother and sister-in-law, Scott and Paula Gunter of Hope, Arkansas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Emily Gunter.

A celebration of life will be held March 21 at 10:00 a.m. at First Christian Church in Bentonville, led by Melanie Hauser.
