Melvin and Rita Rhodes

Rita M. Rhodes, 86, of Centerton died Sunday, October 29, 2023 surrounded by her family. She was born on July 23, 1937 in Pfeffikon, Switzerland to Elisabeth and Bernhard Furrer.

Rita joins her husband, Melvin Rhodes, who passed on October 18, 2023 in Centerton. He was born on September 16, 1933 in Pineville, Arkansas to Troy and Ruby Rhodes.

Rita and Melvin were married on June 6th, 1957. Together they had six children: Shirley (Dan) Taylor of Powell, Missouri, the late Leroy (Cindy) Rhodes, Terry (James) Von Tersch of Central City, Jeff (Debbie) Rhodes of Gravette, Dusty Rhodes of Rogers, and Tammy (Tom) Knox of Centerton.

Rita was a homemaker and enjoyed game shows, Chinese checkers and flowers. Melvin retired from the Army and began his own lawn care business. He enjoyed poker, horse races, playing pool and dominoes.

Melvin is also survived by two brothers; Larry (Sue) Rhodes of Gateway and Joe David (Debra) Rhodes of Edgewood, Texas.

Together they leave behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and many loving friends and family.

Visitation will be held Monday, November 6th from 11am until 12pm at Oakley Chapel in Rogers. Funeral service will begin at 12pm and graveside service to follow at Oakley Chapel Cemetery.
