Cinda "Cindy" Lu Maddox

Cinda “Cindy” Lu Maddox, 76, of Rogers died Sunday, June 18, 2023, at Mercy Hospital. She was born on May 5, 1947, in Lake Forest, Illinois, the daughter of Frances and John Howland. Later growing up in Mosinee Wisconsin.

She was preceded in death by her parents. John and Frances Howland.

Cindy is survived by her husband Mark Maddox of Rogers, her brother John Howland of Wausau her stepdaughter Kim Krutsch (David), grand-daughter, Kasey Tkachuk (Aron), and great granddaughter Emma Grace. During her life, she and Mark were foster parents for 21 kids. Later in life, Cindy and Mark were asked by two families to be their unofficial parents, which she thoroughly enjoyed.

Cindy earned her Bachelor of Science from Wisconsin State University Lacrosse belonging to the Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority. Later she joined their staff as a traveling consultant. Her Master of Science in Education was earned from Northwest Missouri State University where she worked as a director of a high-rise dormitory. While working on her master’s degree she met her husband, Mark, who was working on his.
Cindy was a nationally certified counselor, nationally certified school counselor and a nationally certified school psychologist and served many communities through the years.

While in high school and college she enjoyed her job as a lifeguard. She was an avid reader, a die-hard Packer fan and a lifelong supporter of Drum Corps International. Cindy was a Deacon of the Church and completed the certification to be a Steven Minister.

Earlier in life, Cindy talked about her expectations to marry, live on a cul-de-sac with 2.1 children and a picket fence. In reality, she became a K-12 guidance counselor for 29 years, she lived on Oglala Sioux Indian Reservation for 2 years, worked for Tlingit Haida Indian tribes of Alaska as well as becoming a rancher in South Dakota, Wyoming and Kansas. While it wasn’t exactly how she originally envisioned it, she wouldn’t have had it any other way.
