Icy Bailey Hubbard

Icy Bailey Hubbard was called home by her heavenly Father on Friday, March 15, 2024, at the age of 93. She was born on April 23, 1930, in Romance, Arkansas.

Icy was preceded in death by her precious husband of 70 years, Irlon Clinton Hubbard; her parents, Charlie Cranford Bailey and Nora Lillian Griffin Bailey; two brothers, Raymond Pasley and Glen Bailey; one sister, Nora Stuart; and one grandson, Kenneth Hubbard.

She is survived by her two children: Clint (Laura) Hubbard of Memphis, TN.; Susan (Ron) Henderson of Rogers: four grandchildren: Kathy Bryan, of McRae, AR; Corey (Michelle) Henderson, Bailey (Larry) Collins, and Ali Henderson, all of Rogers; six great-grandchildren: Naomi Hamilton, Anna Miller, both of Searcy, Cameron, Madeline, and Claire Henderson; and Aubrey Collins, all of Rogers; four great -great grandchildren: two sisters: Marie Hobby, of Sherwood, AR, and Pauline Simmons, of Rogers. Icy was blessed to have many nieces and nephews that she dearly loved. Jim and Cindy Lampton and Rick and Kim Strickland are also part of Icy’s extended family.

Icy devoted her life to full-time service as a wife and mother, but always gave God first place in her life. Her family moved several times over the years and were active in a church in every town that God provided for them. Throughout most of her life, Icy served as a Sunday School teacher to all ages, but missions had a large place in her heart. Icy served as WMU director, GA leader, and Vacation Bible School Director for many years. She opened her home to host visiting pastors and evangelists, and all remained good friends for many years.

She loved working with the Auxiliary group of the Gideons International organization in Searcy as they supported their husbands. She and Irlon met many wonderful people as they visited churches sharing the gospel and talking about the Gideons ministry.

Most of all, Icy loved senior citizens. She took meals, shopped for groceries, cared for them during hospital visits and in their homes. She loved visiting and learning from her elders. She helped organize and direct a golden-age social group at churches in two of the towns where they lived and served. She managed their regular devotions, guest speakers, as well as guiding entertaining activities and trips for the groups. Older people warmed her heart.

Icy enjoyed painting, flower arranging, gardening, bird watching, and traveling. She wanted to see and do as much as she possibly could before she lost her vision so she could remember the beautiful world God had allowed her to be part of.

If Icy was here today, she would want to encourage you with these words, “Do not be afraid, for I am with you. Don’t be discouraged, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you. I will hold you up with my righteous right hand.” Isaiah 41:10

The family would like to say a special thank you to Dr. Caleb Gaston at Apex Family Medical Center, Dr. Shaun Senter at Walker Heart Institute, and Dr. Peter Daut at Henry Eye Clinic for their excellent care over the years.

A visitation will be held at the Goad Springs Cemetery in Lowell, AR, on Monday, March 25, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. with graveside service at 11:30 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the building fund at First Baptist Church of Lowell and/or Gideons International.
