James Clemons Parkinson

James Clemons Parkinson, age 85, passed away at his home on Sunday, January 12th, 2025. He was born on Tuesday, April 18th, 1939 in Green Bay, Wisconsin to Keith and Catherine Parkinson (Clemons).

James grew up in Green Bay and graduated from West High School. Afterwards, he enlisted in the United States Navy, serving his country for 8 years. He served aboard the USS Hancock (an aircraft carrier) as an Electrical Repairman, and the USS Sperry as a Navy Gunfire Control Technician. Also, In 1961 he began his broadcast career as weekend deejay on WDUZ, in Green Bay, WI. In 1963 he became one of four transmitter engineers at WJPG (now WNFL) 5kW directional (ironically with a 500 watt nighttime null in the direction of Lambeau Field). In 1965 he became the First Chief Engineer at WCUB in Manitowoc, WI, and put their sister station WKUB(FM) (now WKKB) on the air in 1966. From 1968-1971 he reconditioned Ham Radios for W9DIA in Milwaukee WI.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Keith and Catherine. James is survived by his children, Laura Parkinson of London England, Jody Parkinson of Las Vegas NV, Christine Hamann of Bentonville, AR, and Kegan Parkinson of Bentonville, AR.

Visitation will be held at Epting Funeral Home in Bentonville, AR on Wednesday Janurary 22, 2025 from 5-7pm.

He will be laid to rest at the Fayetteville National Cemetery on Thursday, January 23, 2025 from 1:30-2pm.
