Brenda Jane Knobbe

Marilyn Joyce Hertel, 87, of Bella Vista, Arkansas, entered eternal life on April 1, 2024. Marilyn was born on April 10, 1937 in Hibbing Minnesota to Eleanore and Conrad Anderson. She attended Nashwauk High School and attended University of Toledo in Ohio.

Marilyn married Duane Hertel on November 29th, 1958 and they were married for 59 years until Duane’s death in 2017. They enjoyed fellowship with friends, grilling and playing cards. They looked forward to the many trips to Minnesota to visit family over the years.

Marilyn wore many hats during her life serving in addition to being a mom. For many years she was a bookkeeper, served as a Bible Study leader, and participated in various other church leadership and lay positions.

Marilyn’s faith and love for the Lord was the utmost priority throughout her life. She loved her family and friends and was a generous mom, grandma and great grandma. She especially enjoyed reading, embroidery, sewing and cross stich. Her skilled and beautiful stitching creations grace the homes of many of her loved ones.

Marilyn is survived by her three children: Kurt of Bella Vista, Mark (LaJean) of Colorado Springs, and Allison of Loveland, 10 grandchildren which were the light of her life: Paul (Amanda) Ostberg, Ryan (Dianna) Murray, Stefanie Dailey, Stacie Hertel, Justin Kitch, Kelli (Cody) Klingenberg, Dylan Hertel, Kevin (Shelby) Hertel, Christopher (Laura) Kitch, and Matthew Kitch, 9 great grandchildren: Grace and Owen Ostberg, Bentley and Kingston Dailey, Ruby Gene Waters, Brody and Zoey Hertel. She is survived by many beloved nieces and nephews and cherished friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, Duane, her parents, sister Connie Ring, and her in-laws, Edna and Everett Hertel, brothers-in-law and sisters-in law Keith (Betty) Hertel, Kenneth (Jan) Hertel, Karen Chimento.

Services will be held Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at First United Methodist Church, 20 Boyce Drive, Bella Vista, AR 72715 at 4:00 pm. There will be a light supper reception following the service. Marilyn will be interred with Duane in a Veterans Administration columbarium at the National Cemetery in Fayetteville, AR, at a later time.
