Kathryn A. Greenlee
August 13, 1941 until August 26, 2023
Kathryn A. Greenlee was born August 13, 1941, in Mammoth Springs, Ark., to Vernon and Christine Reeves Dillard. She lived in Mammoth Springs, AR and Berryville, AR until she was 15 years old, and then moved to Rogers, Arkansas, where she attended the Rogers School System and graduated in 1959. This is where she met the love of her life, Roger Greenlee. After graduation, she attended the University of Arkansas.
The marriage of Roger and Kathryn took place on August 26, 1961. To this union three sons were born: Michael K., Patrick L. and Samuel W. Greenlee.
While Roger was an entrepreneur and always had a new business idea, Kathryn was constantly there by his side. Without her, all their life’s successes would not have been possible. Kathryn was there for him every step of the way, all while being the best wife and mother to their three sons.
After Roger graduated from the College of Mortuary, the two started and owned Greenlee Funeral Home in Eureka Springs, AR. In 1985, with Roger’s love for horses and Kathryn’s love for clothes, the two moved back to Rogers, AR, where they established a race horse farm and clothing store, The Bargain Barn. The two continued to raise their family in Rogers where all three boys, just like their parents, would go on to graduate from Rogers High School.
In 1997, the two moved back to Eureka Springs where they opened The Union @ Mud Street Station and Kathryn’s. If you knew Kathryn, you knew her stores were always decorated so beautifully, and when you came by the store and saw her, you better have some time because she loved visiting with her friends, making new ones, and reminiscing of old times and memories. She was a great story and history teller!
When Roger’s health started to decline, the two moved back to Rogers and into her childhood home to be closer to his doctors and family. Kathryn, her granddaughter Mallory, and daughter in law Connie would then open The Cottage @ the Barn where she reconnected with old friends and enjoyed her days after Roger passed away. After 34 years and countless memories, Kathryn made the tough decision to sell the Old Red barn in 2019- it was time for her to enjoy retirement, travel and rest (she could sleep the clock around, as she used to say.)
In 2022, after living her whole life in Arkansas, she decided to move to Oklahoma to be near her son Sam and her granddaughter Gracie.
On the evening of August 26, 2023, the night of her and Roger’s 62nd wedding anniversary, Kathryn A. Greenlee sat down in her chair and peacefully drifted to her final rest in Heaven where she was reunited with her husband who she had so deeply missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; Husband, Roger M. Greenlee and one son, Michael K. Greenlee.
Survivors include two sons, Patrick L. Greenlee and his wife Connie, of Rogers, her son Samuel W. Greenlee of Tulsa, Oklahoma; her brother Jimmy Dillard and family of Batesville, Arkansas; her cousin Donna Fagan and family of Batesville, Arkansas; six grandchildren, Mallory, Michael, Clint, Mariah, Haeden and Gracie. There are nine great- grandchildren, Will, Wyatt, Victoria, Jameson, Kacelyn, Nikki, Kane, Kaistin and Branson Roger, and a host of friends.
Cremation was under the direction of Epting Funeral Home.
Memorial graveside services will be held in the Eureka Springs City Cemetery on Tuesday, September 5, 2023 at 10 am., with the Rev. Ben Rowell officiating.
In her memory and for the benefit of two of her great grandchildren, Wyatt Greenlee and Nikki Kerr memorial donations may be made to one of the following organizations.
